ALLENBY ROAD PLAYGROUND

Public BBQ

Tucked away on Allenby Road, this neighbourhood playground presents itself as a decent family destination, though with some notable caveats. The climbing equipment proves genuinely impressive, clearly designed with older children in mind - those four and above will find plenty to challenge them. The half oval provides ample space for a kick-about, while the barbecue facilities and seating areas maintain reasonable cleanliness standards. The water fountain offers a practical touch for refilling bottles, though one can't help but notice the persistent litter problem that seems to plague each visit. It's rather disappointing that such a fundamentally sound facility suffers from this ongoing maintenance issue. Parents of toddlers might find the equipment somewhat limiting, as the playground clearly favours more adventurous older children.
